Open source
einkreader's source code is public. The app is built in the open,
and technically-minded readers can inspect it, build it themselves,
or contribute:
github.com/xdamman/einkreader
What that means in practice
- The full app source is on GitHub, including the reading engine,
the sync pipeline and the sharing features.
- Signed APKs of every release are published on the
releases page
— the self-built channel for people who prefer sideloading.
- Your data never depends on us either way: everything the app
stores is plain Markdown on your device.
What runs where?
Reading is free and fully local. The optional plugins (email-to-feed,
Twitter cross-posting) run on our servers.
